This policy explains what information may be collected when you read the website or use its forms, and how it is handled. It applies only to this website, not to third-party websites we link to.

Information you choose to give us. The site has a contact form (name, email, subject, message), a destination suggestion form (optional name, email, a place and your reasons) and a newsletter form (email address).

Current status of the forms. At the time of writing, these forms are not connected to any delivery or storage service. When you press submit, your entries are checked in your browser and you are told that nothing has been sent. We therefore do not currently receive or store information entered into them. If we connect a form service in future, this policy will be updated before or when that happens, naming the type of provider used.

Information sent automatically. Like any website, our hosting infrastructure may process technical data needed to deliver pages, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, typically in short-lived server logs used for security and reliability.

Where we do receive information from you, we use it only to answer your message, consider your destination suggestion, review a correction or reader letter, or send the newsletter you asked for. We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising profiles.

Where data protection laws require a lawful basis, we rely on your consent (for example, newsletter sign-up), on steps you have asked us to take (replying to your message), and on our legitimate interest in running and securing the website.

Pages load web fonts from Google Fonts, photographs from Wikimedia Commons, and some letters embed Google Maps. When your browser loads these resources, the provider receives technical information such as your IP address. Their use of it is governed by their own privacy policies. The flight search section on the home page, once it is active, loads a tool from an independent partner. That partner may set its own cookies and collect technical data under its own policy. We will update this page to name the provider when the tool is installed.

If we receive messages in future, we keep them only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, then delete them. Newsletter addresses would be kept until you unsubscribe.

The website is served over an encrypted connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect any information we hold.

We do not share personal information except with service providers who help us run the site, where the law requires it, or to protect our rights. Because the company is based in the United States and providers may operate internationally, information could be processed outside your country.
