In 2015 we visited 12 countries in Europe and Asia. We took altogether 21 flights which is our record for one year. We discovered a lot of interesting places and experienced some pretty amazing adventures. For the first time in our lives we visited the Southern hemisphere, for the first time in our lives we did paddle boarding and surfing and also zip lining. In this blog we would like to share with you our top moments from our travels.
12. Predjama, Slovenia
In the morning we were waiting for the storm to pass in car at Predjama castle and in the afternoon we were swimming in the sea in Portoroz.
11. Dresden, Germany
This was a spontaneous trip. When we went to Prague to visit Lenka’s brother, we did not expect to end up visiting Dresden in Germany. We took a walk around reconstructed oldtown of Dresden which was destroyed in WWII. We tried some delicious traditional food in Pulverturm restaurant. With huge effort we tried to practice our German language until the waiter had the mercy on us and started to speak Czech 🙂
10. Ljubljana, Slovenia
Ljubljana was a very nice surprise for us. The Centre of the city is full of restaurants, cafes and hipster shops, design stores, street art and grafitti. There was a market with hand made staff and souvenirs and it was under the roof, as well as some parts of the promenade, so we enjoyed the city even in the rain. We spent an amazing time in Ljubljana a also discovered a small store with the best cupcakes and home made marmelade.
9. London, Great Britain
During our visit in London, we reassured ourselves that this city is one of our favorites. Thanks to our dear friend Joseph who gave us a shelter and advice what to see.
8. Istanbul, Turkey
Unexpectedly, we took our Istanbul trip as foodies. We still dream about the amazing turkish cuisine. The food we had the very first evening of our visit was so tasteful, that we stuffed ourselves next 6 days. Instead of long walks we had to take a nap after each lunch. The biggest advantage was the fact that our hotel was in the centre of the city near the main sights (5 minute walk to Hagia Sofia). One of the highlights of this city was just wandering in the aisles of Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar.
7. Bohol, Philippines
We visited Bohol mainly to see Chocolate hills and Tarsier. Spontaneously, we ended up on a 500 meters long zip lining over a deep gorge #IbelieveIcanfly
6. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
It was our second visit of this amazing city and second stay in a terrific Traders Hotel. The view on the Petronas Twin Towers is worth every penny.
5. Singapore, Singapore
We fell in love with this city on the first sight. The road from the airport lined with beautifully shaped trees and orchids, clean city, subway and every street, beautiful view from the top of Marina Bays Sands, breathtaking Gardens by the Bay…everything is amazing in this city – the Garden city and the City of future!
4. Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Waking up at 3:30 a.m. and taking off to see the sunrise in the largest buddhist temple on the Southern hemisphere – the Borobudur Temple. We loved the offroad ride to the Merapi volcano. Merapi is an active volcano which erupts every five years, most recently in November 2010. So we were quite scared being there on November 2015. It was a powerful experience.
3. Rhodes, Greece
Rhodes has always been our favourite place because that’s where we first met. It was ten years ago so we celebrated the anniversary there. We spent a few days in the same hotel where we first met and refreshed our memories from “the youth” 🙂 This time we rented a car and drove all over the island. Our regular evening walks through the Rhodes old town lead us to the amazing restaurant – Island Lipsy where we enjoyed the best traditional greek food.
2. Bali, Indonesia
Bali was a dream come true! We finally got to try surfing! We were surprised that it was not that hard to stand up on the board and catch a wave – but to be honest we used a lot of help from our local surf instructors. We were uplifted by the stay in Ubud, which is the most spiritual place in Bali. We stayed in a beautiful place called Rouge Villas, where we enjoyed the private breakfast on our own terrace in front of our villa. At the end of our vacation we met two amazing girls from Slovakia, Katka and Mimi, who have been living in Bali for two years now. They invited us to visit their second home Bali Dream Villa, which they rent to tourist. Btw, we totally recommend you to stay in this place. It is beautiful, amazing and very good located.
1. Boracay, Philippines
We loved our hotel Hey Jude! – situated right on the beach. You walk out of the hotel and you find yourself with your feet in the sand, few meters from the ocean. In the evenings we used to walk on the beautiful White Beach to the restaurants and shopping centre called D’Mall. We also tried paddle boarding for the first time in our lives here in Boracay.
